The Cherry Tree, once again

Pastel pink petals were littered outside my front yard as I looked out the window. The sky was clear and blue, and the sunlight of noon blanketed the cherry tree gently. It's always a treat to see it in full blossom. Yet, looking closely, specks of green leaves could be seen on its branches. It's always like this when I notice the tree. Just as I finally take the time to look at it, the blossoms are already fading away. It only feels like last week when I saw the first of the flower buds begin to grow. Now, I'm reminded once again of how fleeting the beauty of spring is. There's always next year. That is, if I'm still living in the family home. When I move on from this chapter of my life, I hope the pink blossoms will still be here waiting for me.

The Cherry Tree

Ever since I was a kid, there were two trees outside my house, an apple tree and a cherry tree. As a kid I'd eagerly await the day when they'd bear fruit that I could eat. The trees were basically on their last legs though. In my lifetime, I've only gotten one apple out of the apple tree, and nothing from the cherry tree. Eventually, the apple tree died and we cut it down. Now all that's left is the cherry tree. As of writing, it's mid-February. The tree is pale and weak. You can see it's various scars, from where my father has trimmed down to keep the tree going just a bit longer. Even though it happens every year, it's always eerie.  But today I saw, on one branch, three small flower bulbs. They were bright green, in contrast to the grey sky and desaturated wood. And if you look really close, you can see the pink petals hiding inside. Seems like he still has some life in him.

Updates on my Game Plot idea

Holy shit, it's been 5 whole months since I've written on this blog! I've learned a thing or two about writing, so hopefully my posts are actually bearable to read now.     I've also learned a thing or two about storytelling. It's all thanks to my World Literature class I'm taking, as well as the heaps of fan-fiction I've been reading.     Since the start of the class, we've been studying literature about the European's colonization and imperialism of Africa. Most notably, we read Things Fall Apart , about an African man who experiences troubles with imperialism and his own tribe (it's a good book, go read it). It put a lot of insight into writing foreign societies and it reminded me of how I said the protagonist of my own story lived in a tribe. I wanna rewrite it a little, with more knowledge of how these types of people actually work.      Protagonist (I'll call him Anon) lives in a village isolated from society. ...

FINALLY Talking about My Game Idea

This idea for a game has been circulating in my head for the past few months. I've played tons of story games like Undertale, Yume Nikki, and Wadanohara, and I've seen playthroughs of many more. It got my head thinking on how I could make a story that depends on the player's personality and morality but still has a linear plotline and lesson. I've come up with something that I'm proud of. Here it is.     The main character (no name yet, male, idk if customization will be a thing) lives in a village secluded from modern society. While there is some modern technology, they are seen as mostly unnecessary to the residents of the village. The village practices a unique religion based on sacrifices and offerings. Life is similar to what you'd expect of village life. Schools are somewhat modern but are heavily biased towards what the leaders allow. Access to the outside of the village is extremely prohibited and the village is mostly walled off, without any ...

Random School Rambling

School started just three weeks ago, on August 2nd, and I've been quite busy since. I've got Spanish, Engineering, Pre-Calc, and Food to deal with. Being back to school is tough but I'm very glad I'm in the school building instead of on a Zoom call at home.  I majorly flunked last year, especially the 2nd semester. I had no motivation to do any work, I was distracted 24/7, most classes were boring and monotonous, and the format of meetings were strange and new. Everything combined made 9th grade an absolute slog. I don't even know how the hell I managed to pass but I eventually did. It's the worst I've ever performed in school ever.  Now, I'm confident that I'll excel in 10th grade. Don't know if that'll happen though. First of all, I'm lagging behind in Spanish by quite a bit. I can't get my conjugations down, but I'm not finding enough time to practice them. I want to get to a level where I can speak it, but at this rate, I don...
